Atlanta School of Gymnastics was started by Tom Cook in 1976. Tom sent countless athletes to college, but above all he shaped their lives to be positive, compassionate disciplined individuals to always set and go for their goals. He taught them to laugh at themselves and always to view mistakes as learning experiences. It was also required to laugh at his frequent corny jokes.
Things you may not know about Tom:
He was so proud that his son Travis was in the Navy and served our great country for six years as a nuclear technician.
He was also filled with pride with his daughters’ accomplishments. Tenise graduated from UGA Law School and Taryn from UGA Veterinary School.
He loved his son Sean and always encouraged him to go for his dreams whatever they may be. They loved talking about politics.
He loved tennis and would watch Roger Federer any time he played, but his favorite and A#1 was to watch was his son, Thomas Allen Cook, II who now plays at Georgia State University as a “Panther”. Our television pretty much still stays on the Tennis Channel.
He loved American Idol and his favorite singers were Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood. His favorite group was the Allman Brothers.
He loved to barbecue for his family. His speciality was chicken, steak & ribs. (even when it rained)
